GO FROM OVERWHELMED AND STRESSED TO OVERJOYED AND BLESSED

When we are overwhelmed with extreme pressures and feelings that we should be performing better… let’s look to the Lord for peace and rest.
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
When I let myself get caught up in overwhelming pressure to perform and accomplish, my mind finds peace in this verse. I think of God telling the Israelites to let go of all the standards that include worldly judgment….and to focus on what He, our Loving Father, asks of us.
We don’t need to be overwhelmed, by keeping him first and the authority…
* work to please Him, which will surely be enough for others. (This wipes any pressure to please others with difficult tasks ahead).
* Work, at whatever tasks lie ahead, as working for Him. (This truly puts our heart into our task and as a result, we do quite well. It feels good to do good work. (Looking back at a job well done actually supplies us with more energy for the next task, it motivates us).
* And last, prioritize. Prioritize? Yeah, 🙂 if we are supposed to learn from Lord, we must then consider- how did God work?… Jesus work?

Too many demands can leave us frozen and not sure where to turn to next. Here are 3 awesome tips for tackling an overwhelming life.
Call on God: Literally. Over and over the Bible asks us to call on God. AND, Jesus went to God when he needed him. We are His children and he wants to help us. So look at your overwhelming tasks at hand and ask our Lord how to tackle the mess 🙂 Do you need to start with the worst chore first, so you have hope and momentum to sail through the rest? Or maybe you need to plow through a couple simple items on the to-do list so you can ‘cross off’ a few – giving you a sense of accomplishment as you plug along. Regardless, whenever you are overwhelmed, ask God for direction, Jesus did.
Move service items up: Service items that may be overwhelming you or piling up need to be higher on the list! It isn’t by accident that service was a priority to Jesus. So I say look at that list and if there is some item on there that requires you to serve another…..move it up. The great thing about serving others is…it’s a ‘two for one’ 🙂 Really, you are relieved as you accomplished another chore, and you will be blessed back after helping a sister or brother in need.
Delegate: (yep, that means ask for help!) Delegate anything that isn’t in line with doing God’s work. Sometimes items pile up because we know they do not fall within our gifts and talents and they are simply too hard for us. It isn’t doing us any favors to keep it around in hope that we grow a new talent 🙂 I say, find someone that does possess that skill-humble yourself- and ask for help. People love to save others. AND, it’s good for us all to reach out to others sometimes. We are all part of the same team! Once in a while, one of our tasks will contradict our belief system. Maybe we were assigned it or we thought it would be good originally but now we second guess this duty. Listen to your heart. If an unequally yoked chore is haunting you…it’s time to give it up and clear your mind, heart, soul, and energy for God’s work.
