WHAT TO DO ABOUT OUR IMPERFECTIONS?

This Saturday morning I woke early, grabbed a cup of coffee and curled up on my coach responding to my Facebook messages, emails, and with a hope to do a fun little blog for you all.
The image shown here grabbed me right away. HERE is the link to its video if you desire to watch it. Basically, this funny guy, mixed with a crowd of his kind, somehow got this hunk of hay on his head but it didn’t bother him one bit. The videoer found it odd that he just stood there staring straight at her as she walked all around zooming in and out. He stood tall and confident with the ridiculous pile of hay displayed for all to see.
Oh, if we were just a bit more transparent and confident as we find ourselves in a mess. A mess that we perhaps brought on ourselves. A mess that we might not even know we are displaying for all to see yet doing nothing about it.
How can we wear our messes without looking like we either don’t care or that we are a mess ourselves? Well, for me and for today’s blog I simply want us to focus on the idea that we maybe own our mess for one reason alone… For growth.
I can see how essential it is that we not hide our messes. Yet, it breaks my heart when I have found myself or see others oblivious to our messes, as we carry on in our days with the effects of living with them. I want us to own our messes…
BUT TO KNOW THAT WE DON’T HAVE TO LIVE WITH THEM…WE OWN THEM FOR CLARITY AND WE USE THEM FOR GROWTH.
Think about it. What is silly and sad, is when we look back and see that we got stuck in our setbacks. We tried to live our life as though those imperfections are who we are. Sometimes even saying, ‘It’s who I am so deal with it.’ Truth be told, when we do that… WE are the ones who have to ‘deal’ with it.
We are children of the most high!… We are not a mess. We are handcrafted by the craftsman of all craftsman. We are not lacking.
So how do we get to the place where we go from carrying around this pile of hay like it’s simply who we are, allowing it to spill over and get into our eyes; blurring our vision and causing irritation and pain to a place of advancing and growth? How do we fling off the mess and keep the rest?
This is the gift of our imperfections. God/Christ has done the work already for any sinful parts of our imperfections. We need to surrender and accept this beautiful and undeserving gift each and every time we find ourselves carrying around a pile of painful messes. We need to acknowledge that it is, in fact, there. And something WE DID- something WE DO NOT WANT TO LIVE IN OR BE PARTNERED WITH.
WE WANT TO LIVE IN CHRIST AND BE GOD-PARTNERED!
So we admit, confess, and we embrace and learn and grow.
Today, let’s allow ourselves a little grace. Let’s acknowledge the pile of imperfections we may be walking with. Let’s fling our heads and shed the weight by lifting our minds, hearts, and souls to our Father with complete humility, sorrow, clarity, passion for healing, growth, and yes joy! Joy because of His promise to walk with us and to shed us of our imperfections….
Today, give it up!
Live freely and embrace our loving Savior, Father God!
