From whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. Ephesians 4:16
I have loved the insight this verse provides me at so many different times in my life. When my family has been under fire it passionately guided me to stay true to our oneness. Out of routine, we call on any stray member or broken piece to unite up again, so we can use each other to do good work and begin functioning well again. At work, when there is upset or setbacks, I look first to our unity. Are we using all our gifts to get back to a place of great work? In my person, when I am not in sync, failing to function well…I look to God to ensure He and I are one whole body again. This verse speaks so much truth and applies to so many settings.
Now think of another concept. What if these perfectly designed gears, may they be old or welded but designed to work well together…… were switched out and replaced with one that did not fit into your design. The gears would catch, the whole unit would not work quite right, and maybe would even stop working. Today I encourage us all to not only be sure you, your family, your team- all work on together for the same cause… But that you also consider how ‘your machine’ is supposed to work?
This verse speaks to all of us, all with different parts, yet one common uniting force….“build up in love”. God is love. Whatever your body is designed like, your family has grown into, how your team is formed…..is it built with love? Is the driving force God?
When it is you have one unstoppable, smooth running, reliable engine…
