SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE SHADE TODAY BECAUSE SOMEONE PLANTED A TREE A LONG TIME AGO. -Warren Buffett

In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ” Acts 20:35
‘Work on it Wednesday’ and today let’s give delayed gratification some thought. Most often, when we think of delayed gratification we are thinking about the results of our hard labor…. which we will later reap. Many of us can plow away with great stamina if we KNOW in the end that it will pay off. Maybe we want to purchase a new car or bring down debt? Maybe this hard work will allow you to take a much-needed vacation. All of these things are fine, but today’s verse and quote talk about how our good work affects others.
Delayed gratification is hard enough, by simply having to wait for the result to be born and hatched into our own possession. But, what about the times when we work and work, yet don’t really know if or when there will ever be a payoff?
That is what I love about this quote and verse. First, it puts life in perspective for me. I need to remain focused on working for the Lord and not myself alone. And then, by this verse, I am reminded of the truth bathed in Acts 20:35.
…‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’
Whether you are in a season of difficulty or ease, stay focussed on working for the Lord, IT WILL PAY OFF!
