You really are quite wonderful!

It’s Friday! The weekend! What can we celebrate?

How about yourself- your job- your life! Wait, that’s not very Christian…  or is it? Or, can it be?

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:9

This idea of celebrating life and how amazing ‘our life is’, sometimes seems wrong, and it often is. But, I sometimes see folks hold themselves back (often even unintentionally). Because, the level of greatness that their life can be, seems too —- much. This isn’t how God thinks. He doesn’t limit our joy, success, or light. So why do we?

Now today’s image is a little over the top and I would NEVER want to encourage boasting but my point is on allowing yourself to be as excellent as you are called to be. And more importantly, ‘excellence’ that is achieved through Christ, and our faith, and God’s work in OUR life (a life partnered with God).

What I want to relay in today’s post is our need to evaluate OUR heart. Where is our heart when we think of celebrating our life – our career- ourself? What does ‘our’ mean?

Today, go tear through the snow like a child. Lift you bum off your desk chair this afternoon and think, ‘You did great work this week!’ Head into the weekend with gusto! Because you know down deep in your heart that as you interacted with others throughout the week… you listened to nudges from the Holy Spirit and he kept you safe and on the right path.  As you worked your tail off Monday through Friday- you did it as working for the Lord! And, as you reach out to friends and family this weekend, in a time of celebration and fun, you will carry with you a joyful and gracious spirit that you learned from none other than Christ!
