STANDING IN THE GAP

STANDING IN THE GAP
If you are spiritually attuned to God, you should be able to see gaps all around you.
~ Pamela Mandela Inden
IS GOD CALLING YOU TO BE THE PERSON WHO STANDS IN THE GAP?
THE PROBLEM: God searches for people like you and me to stand in the gap and act as a bridge to accomplish His will on earth. The problem is that instead of shouting, “Here I am,” we often duck our heads whispering “Not now Lord.”
-we might feel we are ready – strong enough
-we might wait for a sign….
-we might think we hear God wrong?
IF YOU FEEL LACKING, SCARED, DOUBT- NO WORRIES, GOD DOESN’T WANT YOU TO DO THIS ALONE
THE WORD:
“So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one. Ezekiel 22:30 NKJV
“ For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.” 2 Chronicles 16:9a, NKJV
In both 2 Chronicles and Ezekiel, God calls his people to put their trust in him and to do his calling. He assures them that when they do, he would be strong on their behalf, giving them what they needed to take a stand.
-We sometimes think it isn’t our place to stand in the middle. “It’s not my business.”
-This could be at work, home, with friends.
God wants you to put your trust in him and to do his calling. He assures us that when we do, he would be strong on our behalf, giving us what we need to take a stand.
THE GIFT: Is to receive strength from HIM… for us to stand in the gap, as he empowers us to make a difference in the land.
THE CHOICE: It is your choice whether you are willing to stand in the gap for God and help build a wall that expands his Kingdom and offers hope and possibilities to others. Before the foundation of the world, God prepared you for the time, space, and the land in which you live. He knew the walls we’d face and the gaps that he would ask us to fill. When we stand in God’s strength, he blesses us with a forum to glorify his name and serve others. Here are three suggestions on ways you can take a stand and start “filling the gap.”
- PRAYER GAP: Ask both believers and unbelievers what you can specifically be praying for them. Then pray and let them know you are praying for their requests. Or, if they are going through a difficult time, you don’t even need to ask, pray, and let them know you are lifting them up.
- ADVOCATE GAP: Be an advocate for the person who is having a difficult time. You might not even like the person, but God has called for us to love the unlovable as well as the lovable. You may be the only “Jesus” they see.
- INTEGRITY GAP: Be willing to stand up for what is right, even when it is not the popular decision — it isn’t fun – you may even be standing alone. Practicing integrity is a real gap filler.
When God calls us to stand in the gap, and IF we don’t, there is a possibility that we are enlarging the breach. So let’s stand in the Gap.
