Picking Up the Pieces…

God, pick up the pieces. Put me back together again. You are my praise! Jeremiah 17:14
Here Jerimiah writes of a plea over the sin and rebuking of God’s people. So how does this verse relate to us now? Yikes! A little too close for comfort, I say. To me, this verse speaks of our need for awareness of God knowing how ‘messed up’ we are as a group. In the time of this verse, they were paying the consequences of their idolatry. Sound familiar? But, true to human form some were on God’s path, tuned in, desiring with all their heart to do God’s work – sinners still- but humbled by the awareness of God knowing all their ways and still offering his repair, healing, and restoration.
And then, they gave praise~
This process is good. Awareness of our fallen, diseased, broken parts. Mixed with a humble heart to return to God for healing and restoration…responding then, in gratitude. With a conscientious spirit to do good work with this renewed place in life.
This is what I wish each of my days to be like. This is my prayer for each of you! To live today – in this sinful world as best you can. To spend some time each night to consider all of your broken parts and to offer them to the Lord. To ASK and SEEK for healing and restoration each evening- and to say praises as you drift off into a peaceful sleep knowing that you did your best today. But tomorrow, with a hopeful heart, you know that God will be with you. And because of the this, your tomorrow will be even better.
