PAUSE A BIT BEFORE YOU GO

PAUSE A BIT BEFORE YOU GO

I move fast. I just need to accept the fact that God hand-crafted me to move…But that doesn’t mean I don’t need to stop and pause before barreling out upon my next adventure. In fact, for those of you like me…It might mean we must be MORE diligent about stopping long enough to consider.

Consider if our new journey is sparked by God himself, or maybe by ‘self’ or the world. This has saved me a lot of grief over the years, and especially while starting up my faith-based business. I want to walk with HIM while doing this work and while living this life. You too? This is harder than it seems. We can have the best intentions and before we know it Satan has tricked us once again to go forth on his plan for our life. (Which always looks wonderful at first, all shiny and red, but once bitten-it quickly sours). We need to always stop and check in with God. Truly ask. Call upon the Holy Spirit to breathe truth and light into you before you head out in ‘blind’ faith.

Consider if the energy required for this journey is worth it. Will it be properly placed, or will it rob us of what we need to properly care for the priorities God has already provided us. Coming from a family line of hard workers, my step-father’s famous quote, “I’m okay, I can sleep when I’m dead.” had instilled in me the ability to push and go like an ox. But, I do not want to do that at the cost of my health, our family, or this God-partnered business. We need to be careful and mindful of the story of the talents. God gives us little to start and that is good. As we prove faithful and bear fruit from what we have been given we are given more and so it goes. However, the second we bale ship on one gift to try and grab at another, we put the gifts we have already been gifted with at risk. So I have learned to give careful consideration to what I have already been given…before heading out for more.

Consider the heart behind the action. God always knows our heart and why we do the things we do. But, do we? This can give us great clarity when choosing to step out or not. It can also keep us grounded and focused while accomplishing the new task with zeal and efficiency. So now I take a good look at my heart, mind, and soul with new ventures. If I’ve already decided my new venture is good and God appointed I will evaluate the mission and passion behind this work carefully. I will often write it out just to see it in black and white. I like to find a great Bible verse that speaks to it clearly. Then I will meditate and think on this often…So I stay grounded, as I hop to it!

What has God called you to do? What are you feeling nudged to do? Where are you putting your energy and where are you scurrying around?

Today I say, let’s stop in our tracks for one second. Let’s consider the things we do. Are they God directed, requiring a responsible amount of our time and energy, and are we staying true to WHY we are doing the things we do?
