ONE YEAR, WHAT COULD BE IN YOUR FUTURE?

Jeff and I just landed back into the states. We had a wonderful vacation in the same place we were last year around this time. It was our anniversary and a perfect time to get away together. The first morning of our trip, Facebook sent me a time hop. It showed a December 5th video, from my Awaking the Living Legacy book launch last year.
Last year, this time, my book had just come out and God has had me on quite a journey ever since. Before this Facebook prompt had popped up on my newsfeed, I’d already been reflecting on how instinctive it has become for me to call on God. However, I was thinking over the last two or three years. Not realizing it, in fact, has just been one.
When we arrived at the resort we threw on our suits and headed straight for the beach. I took in the amazing view of blue water and soft beige sand said a prayer of gratitude and dozed within seconds to the sound of crashing waves.
Ever since I began this God-partnered journey He has given me a drive and passion to go, go, go. Don’t get me wrong I think it is awesome but at the same time, I tend to crash quite late at night content with what got done for the day and knowing there will be much more in the morning.
I literally check in with Him every morning before I fling my feet out of bed. It is a standard routine for me, just after my eyes open. I really hadn’t given it much thought… until this vacation. I simply do it because He is my boss and I want to do what He asks.
You might wonder why this vacation had me more aware of this now more than ever. Well, it was my daytime dozing on the beach. As mentioned above my body was due for a RELAXING get-a-way. It was not hard for me to drift off to sleep in the sun but with any gentle stir of waking or even with a startled wake… I found my first thought was always a rather instinctive, “What do you want me to do today?” I was so beat that first day that I was at times disoriented when I startled awake but my response was always the same… ‘Just what do you want me to do Lord?…
‘Rest Niccie.’ came to my thoughts.
What I found so wonderful, odd, and comforting was this repeated response by my (our) dear Father. The first time this wonderful command of rest came to me I thought, ‘Oh yeah, I’m on vacation. Go back to sleep and enjoy the sun.’ Then after two or three incidents of me waking, wondering what God wants of me, and my hearing ‘It’s okay Niccie, rest.’ I began to realize, God not only loves me (us) so much that He wants me (us) to rest too, I also understood something had shifted in my life direction over that last year.
It seems so caring of God to give me the ‘permission’ or reassurance I seemed to need, to truly soak in the vacation after He provided me a year of passion and energy to go, go, go. This is a valuable lesson for us all. We do need a Sabbath, to make time to stop, reflect, and take time to rest.
However, my awe is in all that has happened this last year, while my focus was intent on God, and His direction for my life. I can hardly believe it was Christmas time last year when my book came out and when I was loading my faith-based coaching package into a computer program called the Living Legacy Academy. I hadn’t even started coaching on it until this January. So now I am getting to my point.
What is one thing you would love to do or accomplish next year?
What are you feeling nudged or pulled to do, improved upon, or go for? Whatever you think you can’t do or achieve- you probably can. And you can accomplish far more than you’d ever imagined with God as your partner. Whatever challenge lies ahead of you, you can overcome with God on your side. Whatever hope or fear nags you- I say…
CALL ON GOD, and concur it!
I would have never dreamed my life would change this much in a year. I write today’s post knowing the new year is just around the corner. I want to encourage you to dream big but to also call on God and partner your life, and life’s goals with God deeper than you ever have. He has great plans for you.
Choose a goal that will serve God and His people: Some may have a huge goal or dream that you feel God wants for you. Others may be in their perfect place already and it isn’t that you need to change life drastically. It may be that you are being pulled to change the direction in how you live it. How we do the work we do is what really launches us into God’s will with gusto. At home moms or dads, businessmen or women, alike…
Focus next years life goals on what God is nudging of you and do it with great commitment to serve Him and His people- as He is asking of you. How do we take our life and life purpose to a new level?
INVITE him into the work you do. Do this by asking him, with each and every new day, to be with you and to guide you and direct you.
Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will be established. Proverbs 16:3
SEEK God. This means get into the Word to learn of His desires for you. Listen to podcasts and/or music to get inspired, and pay attention to nudges and the Holy Spirit. Have some quiet time and invite the triune into your life first thing in the morning before your day gets crazy.
You will seek me and find me, when you seek me a with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33
TRUST that God will be there for you. He is capable, and do not lean on your own understanding. If he puts a dream in your heart, He will have a way to make it happen. So trust and blindly follow what you know is true.
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. James 1:5
I have two exciting things happening next year to help you kick off 2018 with gusto! Keep watching Facebook for details on a new and unique ‘Bible in a Year’ program my Pastor, Pastor Tim. Sign up below if you want to learn that Bible and tap into all God has to offer this year!
