‘One Day’… or … ‘Day One’ ?

Will today be ‘Day One’ of your plans… Or, will you wait for one day in the future?
It’s ‘Work On It Wednesday’ and my coaching tip is for anyone who wants to accomplish something but hasn’t made work of it yet. We sometimes even label ourselves procrastinators. I don’t believe that. YOU are a child of the most high…. So use it! 🙂
Turn that idle place into a ball of fire that will get you moving toward God and doing His work- in a way you never have before!
First, we must consider if this goal, idea, or dream is consistent with God and HIS calling for you…“Does it serve HIS people in a way that would GLORIFY HIM?” That is a good check! You might also be reassured if it falls within your gifts and talents. However, the underlined sentence is most crucial. Image….charting out with your amazing God-given gifts and talents to do work that disrespects the Lord. YIKES. So consider the above-underlined sentence and then…. let’s go!
Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Ephesians 5:15
Second, sometimes knowing God’s will or thinking we know God’s call for us can make us anxious. This anxiety can also hold us back and keep us from moving forward. For this I say, focus on the WORK and doing it for the Lord and His people. When I become anxious about doing a new plan or goal…it is typically when I allow ME to be the center of this work. Am ‘I’ good enough, smart enough, or able enough to do and accomplish this task? Well, if ‘I’ truly want to be excellent at this dream, goal, or task then remembering that I do not want to be as great as ‘I am’ at anything is so important! I am great for sure, God made me. But, right now…I am also human. I am living in flesh, and for now stuck in this world, so no matter how awesome ‘I’ may think I am. ‘I’ will never be or ever accomplish all that is to be done….UNLESS I DO IT WITHIN THE SCOPE OF THE ALMIGHTY. Knowing this lightens the load. It is not all up to YOU and your awesomeness. So try not to get stuck wondering how capable you are. Focus on the words of the Lord: He has plans for you, He will prosper you, He will help, give insight, strengthen, and do so much more…when you are partnered with Him. When we finally understand this we can truly and passionately with a heart of service…call on the Lord for His help! It is no longer all on us…and that pleases Him 🙂
Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad. Proverbs 12:25
Third, You have the strength. You have everything you need when you know you are working in and on God’s will. It doesn’t matter if your goal is small or big. Just start and He will provide, teach, and refine. Then with time you will look back upon a once unforeseeable future now with gratitude and awareness of His great glory in your life and the lives of those you touched. He will provide.
I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
Fourth, God loves a diligent worker. It isn’t even as much about how effective we feel we will be or how perfect we are at the work we are trudging through…it’s simply that we are doing all we can, each day here in this world…and that we want to get it right for GOD. God knows our heart. He will take care of the rest. You just work hard and diligently and let Him straighten, prune, reform, refine …. basically he’ll turn our good work into awesomeness!!
We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work. John 9:4
Fifth, stay dressed for action… Be ready, alert, wise! This means, ‘Stay in the Word.’ ‘Listen to the Holy Spirit and obediently follow nudges.’ ‘Call on the Lord and look to Him for reassurance and support versus the worlds’. His lamp and light will show you the way.
“Stay dressed for action and keep your lamps burning, Luke 12:35
Last, all these are great tips to start your walk through the ‘STUCK’ places but I include the below verse because too often, once we get in a great place, we sort of let go of our dependence on the Lord. As we then become confident in our new place we lose our focus on His call in our life, and with that the strength, insight, and fortitude He is providing. This is where we can hold ourselves back from reaching true excellence. To keep our path rising for the glory of God you need to stay engaged in Him. I think we put limits on our dreams and once we accomplish, even at some level, we are pleased and go back to being idle. He has great plan for us and our future. So let’s not settle then, once we accomplish. My last tip is to CONTINUOUSLY seek God first.
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33
Praises for TODAY, Day ONE of your plans.
