Like-minded, Sympathetic, Loving, Compassionate, and Humble

Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. 1 Peter 3:8
There is a large bike ride across Iowa every summer. A wonderful time of health, community, and oneness. This morning we are heading to the park here in town and about 100 of us will be heading down the road. 72 miles today and I am not sure which I like more, knowing we get a good work out in, knowing that I’ll have several hours of community, or quite possibly it is the love for others that I find most pleasing.
These big riding groups protect, encourage, and show great compassion for each other. We have riders at all stages of fitness and all ages but we share one thing in common. Yes, biking, but it is more than hopping on a bicycle. We share a love and care for each other. It will truly be a day of joy, talking, and supporting.
I will miss church this morning opting for a podcast. We will leave the house around 6:30 but we will not miss one of the wonderful parts of our faith. Loving each other, being encouragers, supporters, and humble. Those with strength and power will head up the front of the line allowing one in need of a break to kick back in a draft.
There is no substitute for missing church. Yet today’s post is a reminder to me of how we can be a great witness of God in our daily lives. Today enjoy church. Say a prayer for safety for me if you will. AND, throughout this week, whether at work, at home or in your community. Join together with a common thread. Love for one another.
