Your last Christmas gift… but first-most

In these last hours you don’t need much, give little in a big way to that person that tugs at your heart!
And behold, a man came up to him, saying, “Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?” 17 And he said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. lIf you would enter life, keep the commandments.” 18 He said to him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, m“You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, 19 Honor your father and mother, and, nYou shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 20 The young man said to him, o“All these I have kept. What do I still lack?” 21 Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” 22 sWhen the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions. Matthew 19:16-22… So the last will be first, and the first last.” Matthew 20:16
I love Matthew 19:16-22- we sure get an education. We don’t need all these worldly gifts, we need a heart after God. The most awesome gift to each of us is Jesus himself and thank goodness we have a special time of year to remember this. Because of him, we are ‘in’- ‘free’-and ‘at peace’. I like how Jesus tells us that sure if we desire to get to heaven on works go ahead – do your best – be perfect! All with the insight that his whole life was lived perfectly for our imperfection to be enough. Our true command is to not get caught up in this imperfect world or even out imperfect selves because he gifted us out of this unbearable feat of perfection. Our job is to love and serve! WE DO NOT NEED RICHES TO LOVE AND SERVE!
Truly, the best gifts are the thoughtful ones, in the last hour, with a true heart of love and service. See what your last gift might be this year- think of another who could really use your kindness and make your last gift your best!
Blessings my friends, and Merry Christmas, Niccie
