GUARD YOUR HEART

GUARD YOUR HEART
The condition of your heart is critical in your walk with the Lord.
What exactly does that mean…Your walk with the Lord? I love that… “Your walk with the Lord.” See we get to decide with whom we walk, the world or with God. Oh, the world is a wonderful place for sure. I know right away some of your antennas went up because this world is also a horrible mess, full of sin, hate, and pain. But we can’t forget that our God made this world and there is still so much awesome wonder here.
However, we cannot deny that this place can get the best of us sometimes. The thing is we do not need to be prey to this world. We can actively put ourselves in a position of power and strength over the darkness of this world. AND I WANT THAT FOR YOU AND ME. We get to choose. We have free will and I choose God. Do you choose God… to live IN and OF God?
Well, if you are reading this and getting faith-infused input from the Bible or music, or even a wise friend, then I say,
“Yes, you do . . . You also, choose God.”
The tricky thing is, it is hard to choose God while living here among all this freedom, plenty, and temptation. So let’s do what God teaches us. Jesus lived here and he knows how hard it is to live here. He made sure we had a helper (the Holy Spirit) to live out our days here and God put loads of instruction in the written Word to help us stay close to HIM, to choose HIM, to walk with HIM.
Let’s look at some verses that help us guard our hearts and keep us close to God.
ALSO, pay attention to how the Holy Spirit moves in you as you read these verses. This is what the living Word means. Some verses will tug at you. Some may just sit right with your soul. Others may lay flat and that is okay for today. Consider the verses that stir you with a spirit of improvement. Maybe one will open your eyes to new insights that you are now ready to tackle.
Remember, Satan is here with one goal…To pull us away from God. Today we are stepping into a deep place of intention. Today we will own the responsibility of guarding our hearts and walking closely with God.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:21
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; Proverbs 3:5

I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. Psalm 9:1

I hope one or two of these verses stirred in you a deeper spirit for guarding your heart and walking with the Lord in this crazy and beautiful world.
I highlighted the references to ‘heart’ in the above verses to accentuate how often God includes the condition of our heart as high importance. This whole blog was stemmed from a good old praise song to help you give your heart to God.
Here’s a link to the song that brought about today’s post. Here’s My Heart Lord By Lauren Daigle.
Let’s GIVE God our heart each day friends.
Let’s put away the things of this world and zero in on HIS love, HIS power, and HIS grace.
