DO YOU EVER THINK, “IF I JUST HAD THIS, I WOULD…” ?

Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can do.”
These were the words of tennis legend Arthur Ashe, whose life was a prime example of such greatness. It’s funny. If we could talk one on one with a dozen famous athletes, writers, computer guru’s we could bet they would attribute much of their success to hard work. So often truly successful individuals start with very humble beginnings.
So this inspires my post today… Never doubt your beginnings. Our God is a provider. He’s a giver. He’s a grower.
Short and sweet today but let it sink into your soul. Whatever you are working on today, a big project, a challenge that seems overwhelming, maybe it is a bunch of little accumulating things, or maybe it is to simply begin work in an area that is calling out to you and you’ve been…waiting.
Start- where you are. Today. Do one little thing.
When God puts an idea or passion into your heart, it is time to listen.
Sometimes we truly don’t know where to start and can’t really hear God. That happens to us all. But, that is when I encourage us all the more. My suggestion… Think on how God has gifted you. This is a great way to begin takings steps of faithful action.
Keep on asking, (praying) and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, (look to the Word, tune into the Holy Spirit) and you will find. Keep on knocking, (action) and the door will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7
If you are an encourager, then use that gift in all you do. (Parenting, at work, church, or your community.) It feels good when we use our gifts and God rewards us when we do. He has plans for us and as he sees us stepping into all He has called us to be, it makes him happy. He then gives us more. Which we then, can use in a greater way and so it grows.
Use what you have. It may feel like a drop in a bucket… But God is a God of plenty. He cannot wait to pour into you. I need to remind myself how it takes practice to learn to use God, to remember to call on Him, and to mature our gifts.
Let’s step out in faith and wait expectantly. Test the doors we feel He has opened.
“Start where we are, use what we have, do what we can do.”
