Let’s Give Them What They Need

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; Ecclesiastes 3:4

One might wonder what today’s Bible verse and this image have in common. It wasn’t until I added the quote in green that I knew what verse to find. After years of teaching, and leading I have learned that the quickest and most effective way to teach others is it to ‘teach them how they learn’. There is a time to teach by example, by written steps, by video, by verbal direction…and so on.

We are all different, and to think each person learns and understands the same– shows little insight toward another. Most organizations have learned this and take great efforts to provide the public, their employees, and their customers information in various ways- in hopes to reach each and every individual.

But think for a minute on how well we are doing this in our personal lives. Do I expect my very masculine husband to understand my tender thoughts and tactful approach while he is direct and serious? Do I expect my brilliant daughter to learn by watching when she can so successfully plow through written steps?

Today I want us to consider one another -Let’s think about those we hope to inspire, instruct or guide, and about how they best learn….and then, let’s give them what they need.
