25 Years of Marriage and Roots That go Down Deep in Love

I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts, living within you as you trust in Him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love. Ephesians 3:17

Today I’m sitting on an airplane heading for Mexico. My husband Jeff, and I are celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary and I am in awe of how God has been working in my life far before I even knew- or thought to know.

I am married to my best friend. I love him like I love myself. Oh, it hasn’t always been that way. To be honest, I first loved him with passion and infatuation of a child, but that was short lived and quickly moved to the love of a disciplined wife. We were so different. I in fact spent time doubting God and his direction in leading me to my life partner. I am sure Jeff felt the same at times yet we stayed true and pushed through.

Our different spirits collided and fought for presence in our marriage. Yet in those hard times, we clung to our bind in and with God and to each other. We loved when it made no sense and asked God for help when we couldn’t find the grace required.

Then as the days turned into years and we leaned on each other and the gifts the other had we found gratefulness and understanding in God’s wise direction. I think it is funny now, at 25 years of marriage that I had ever once doubted our joining. This is why I share this heartfelt message. Young couple or old…stay the course. Call on God and first, make Him your life partner. Pray that He becomes your spouse’s as well. This I know to be true.

Without a doubt, my Jeff is perfect for me and he always was. He was first my best friend and that he always remained. Then he became my lover that came and went with my wavering, doubting immature heart. From the day we married he was my provider and never a day passed without his protection. Today I have him all. Today I sit staring out an airplane window with the clarity of God’s great plan at work.

God is in Jeff and God is in me. We are best Friends…God, myself, and my husband. This makes our marriage whole and loving.

Pray for this young marriages… Pray for God’s partnership in YOUR life… Pray for God’s place in your spouse’s life….here you will find great unity-a great love- and all the passion, security, grace, and support you need.
